Oldest Pioneer in Will County Dies at 1819
Daniel Gougar, aged 93, longtime Will County resident and pioneer, died at his home on Richards Street after a two week illness. Funeral held Sunday at 3 PM from his home with burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. He came to New Lenox in 1849 and lived in Joliet until his death. Survived by two daughters Elizabeth and Katherine. wife Ruth Colwell died January 4, 1900. His brothers William Gougar and another sibling are noted as deceased.
