Bank bankers arrive for major Chicago event
The First National bank hosts a large reception for 160 outside financiers from Chicago and downstate. They will arrive by Rock Island train Saturday afternoon, tour the busy bank, hear talks by department heads, and attend a dinner at a country club before returning to Chicago. Jorge Woodruff, the bank president, is away on business and returns tomorrow.

Long Hint Ends as Chicago Crook Is Sentenced
Harry Watson, a young Chicago criminal linked to a “short-change” scam on a train, received a penitentiary term of one year in Judge Rooney’s north side court. Conductor John Servis and witnesses including Charles Hotz and Public Service Co. men testified as to armed threats and pistol displays during the April 15 incident. Servis conducted a long hunt leading to Hotz’s capture in Ipswich, South Dakota, after tracing tickets and baggage checks.

Dr Michael E McGann 39 died last night at his home from an intestinal disturbance linked to his Spanish American War service. A Joliet physician since 1903 he served in the hospital corps at Chickamauga Park. Survived by widow and parents and siblings Elizabeth Bernard J R James Thomas Charles. Funeral Saturday at Sacred Heart Church with high mass and Mt Olivet burial.

After four years on a charge of duping Joseph Bozzich out of 47.50, Jacob Konta was arrested by Patrolman Patrick Creek and arraigned in Justice Hawk's court. Konta, formerly with Economy Light and Power, had a pay history from 2.50 to 80 dollars and had left Joliet before returning.

The Will County W C T U Institute opened in the Business Women's club parlors at 10 am with about forty White Ribboners attending. County president Mrs W J Perkins chaired, greetings were sent to Mrs Oliva H Ferriss, and a report by county organizer Mrs Villa M Case highlighted a new union in Plainfield ready to join the federation. A noon program featured 26 Central engineers and a varied show by boys and girls from the Central engineers group including marching figures, dumbbell and wand drills, with school orchestra accompaniment.

Double tracking will proceed rapidly to finish by July 1, improving Rock dale Hickory Wilcox lines and eliminating most turnouts. Starved Rock Draws Chicago Visitors On New Route
