Fire destroys Carpentersville plant killing one worker
A blaze at the Illinois Iron & Bolt plant in Carpentersville killed employee Henb who was aboard the second floor of the machine shop. The three story building was gutted causing about 125 workers to lose their jobs. repairs and rebuilding were planned immediately. Firefighters from Elgin and nearby towns brought the flames under control in the afternoon.

Alton Trains Delayed Briefly By Early Morning Wreck
