D Y Smith of Joliet Dies After Long Life at 79
D Y Smith known as an expert machinist in Joliet for 52 years died at his home at the Jefferson and Scott streets corner. Born June 20 1838 in Fallsburg New York he came west in 1860 and worked at the Chicago Alton yard before starting his shop at 412 Jefferson Street. He married Ruth Eliza Tullock January 21 1863 and leaves nephews and nieces in Pennsylvania and Kansas. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon hosted by Mount Joliet lodge with Rev. MacPherson assisting.
