Frances M Weed longtime Joliet resident since 1854 died this morning at 8 80 in St Josephs hospital after a fall Oct 20. She leaves a niece Mrs Albert Randell and her husband and daughter. Funeral arrangements pending. She came from Revolutionary stock with relatives in Ithaca New York and was active in Dorcas Society and Ladies Modern Maccabees. A Swedeborgian, she lived at 1508 East Cass street the past 20 years supporting public causes and good works.

Engineer wrecks derailment blocks two railroads

Champaign Illinois December 13 The plan by Prof Earl Archibald White of the farm mechanics department aims to pump soft water using well water on farms. A windmill would pump well water into a 1000 gallon tank delivering 650 gallons under air pressure. The system also powers a 420 gallon tank delivering 200 gallons without the windmill. The project seeks to ease home labor and improve farm households as part of a broader efficiency campaign.
