The Joliet move to adopt one commissioner triggered formal notices for a special election on a Tuesday in December. It will be complete and comprehensive though no new features are planned and the compilation is nearing printer-ready status. The directory will cover Municipal city residents and those within a quarter mile beyond, including Rockdale Forest Park Ridgewood and nearby communities.
President John H. Walker of the Illinois State Federation of Labor is due in Joliet this evening to address the Central Trades and Labor Council. If unable to attend, a substitute will deliver the address. Nominations for council offices will be made, with the election set for the first January meeting.
A revised schedule for the Country club street car line will take effect Wednesday morning. Superintendent Will Heun says service will run every half hour from the loop to the club terminus and every fifteen minutes from the loop to Fifth avenue and Richards street. The timetable will be issued on Tuesday.
James W. Faulkner was named guardian ad litem for Harold Frederick as a former guardian for him left Tilinofa. The guardian will represent Harold Frederick during litigation arising from the wills of the late Joseph and Sarah Frederick.
Mrs R H Thomas arriving from Paris says she crossed the Atlantic to undergo an operation for appendicitis. She trusted American physicians and wished to be near her folks. The couple will return to Paris after the procedure.
Governor Dunne designates December 7 as Tuberculosis day in Illinois and urges churches and all denominations to include the topic in services. The proclamation follows national efforts by the association to study and prevent tuberculosis and calls for public education and steps to curb the disease.
Felix Arenos was fined for being drunk and disorderly after a Saturday night. Eric Hornwell, a Swede who claimed he could not speak English, was fined for sleeping on the courthouse steps. Frank Aeber, a sausage maker from Chicago Heights, was fined for intoxication. John Johnson, who talked back to Officer Layfield at Union Station, was fined $3 and costs.
John H. Staley purchased a two story house at 407 South Raynor avenue near McDonough street in Joliet from Amelia Hatters for 3500 dollars. He predicts rapid growth for all property in the West Park area.
Under Warden 3 M Allen convicts in the Illinois State prison will start printing a newspaper around December 15. It marks the first such project for the institution though prisons nationwide have papers for inmates. The paper will include editorials on prison conduct personal news and criminology topics.
Mayor Wood unable to travel to Washington D C for National Jets and Harbors Conference due to pressing duties. Arthur Leach remained aboard to handle local duties as the city council continues work.
