Plainfield Fair Highlights Bloom at Three Day Event

A busy Plainfield Township Fair drew 3000 visitors to Electric Park with a big baby show, a Wheatland vs Plainfield baseball battle, a Royal Neighbors drill, and a speech by A. E. Wilson. Jolet’s day drew about 500 locals as merchants arrived by special car, while contests crowned poultry and livestock prizes.

Officials Return to Philadelphia

The American railways executive board, after inspecting the local system, left for Chicago for the annual directors meeting. Manager J. R. Blackhall remains in the meeting with J. J. Sullivan H. J. Crowley and C. L. 8. Tingley part of the visiting trio. They are expected to return to Philadelphia after the session ends.

Plainfield Man Drops Molars at Township Fair

Jonathan Hartong, longtime Plainfield resident, cheered a ball game so hard at the Township Fair yesterday that he dropped his teeth. The molars were found and returned to Lou Smith, secretary of the Fair Association.

Asha Jage Baltor Seeks Escape. Chicago Procuress Sought

Detectives are detailed to locate Asha Jage Baltor described as a Chicago procuress. Alderman Peter Waters filed the complaint at headquarters this morning. Information says she operated on Hickory street yesterday and lured women and girls with offers, though no victims have yet been found.

Train and speeder crash near Columbia crossing injures official

Chicago official John Kirk and conductor Sam Scott escaped serious harm when a gasoline speeder collided with an Elgin Joliet and Eastern passenger train near Columbia street crossing in Joliet. Kirk was scratched after jumping clear, Scott stayed with the speeder as the wrecked car was dragged away. Witnesses counted hundreds as the collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles.

Boy suffers hand injury at Lockport plant

A severely injured youth, from Lockport, was pulled from a press jaws at the East Washington Street plant. He was moved to St. Joseph's hospital where doctors fear amputation of several fingers. Ambulance delays due to freight trains hampered the response. police later found him en route by carriage.

Village blames for pole rope death in child injury suit

Paul J. Welinitz administrator of Bales tawa Naruz deceased sues Torino village for negligence over a loose street light rope. The eight year old girl reportedly swung from the rope and struck her head on the pole, dying days later from injuries. The accident is said to have occurred September 26, 1907 at the corner of Raland and Buffalo streets.

Mayor Cronin to Attend State Meeting in LaSalle

LaSalle Mayor John R. Cronin will attend a state municipal meeting with other city executives and Assistant City Attorney D. R. ty. He will then travel to Omaha October 1 and 2 to address the meeting. Travel and lodging plans include a Springfield and return fare, with passes valid through October 5.
