Woman Struck and Killed by Touring Car in Joliet
Mrs. John Lye was crossing Ottawa Street near the County National Bank when an automobile owned by Martin Schuster, city treasurer, struck her. The car, with Thomas R. McGlashen aboard, weighed about 2200 pounds and sped at up to six miles per hour. Mrs. Lye died at the scene. coroners and police launched an official inquiry as witnesses described the accident and Schuster’s remarks.

Eugene Felker and Fred Kempf are charged with stealing two tons of scrap shoes from a side tracked car in the Alton yards.
