Report notes a near Joliet booster concourse inspecting a canal and a sanitary channel near Lockport with hundreds of delegates arriving by train to Romeoville yesterday afternoon.
Inland waterway delegates gathered in Lockport for a Sanitary District visit and boat ride from Romeoville to the power plant. State and city leaders from St. Louis New Orleans Memphis Cairo and Iuka joined South officials with Eastern delegates absent. The tour included dam demonstrations and plant explanations as part of a large civic delegation with women’s clubs aiding outreach.
Crowds gathered outside the county building as the feared boy murderers Ane thony Brouth and Mathew Stakha were to be brought before the court. Frank Klein, charged with horse stealing, observed the attention but drew little interest from the onlookers. The meeting is under the council, with Rev A N Webb as chair and Joliet Colored Male Quartette providing music. All residents invited regardless of color or party.
Thomas alias Blackie Lavin was arraigned before Police Magistrate Allen after stabbing Thomas alias Pike Harney in a Monday noon dispute at the Weiner block. Hearing set for Saturday October 17, bonds fixed at 1000. he failed to provide sureties and was remanded. Harney hospital status listed as stable with non life threatening wounds to stomach and neck.
Hughes and Deneen are expected to address a large audience at the Chicago and Alton depots this Saturday as the Republican campaign steps up. The events aim to mobilize support ahead of upcoming votes.
Rev W E Andereck was asked to reconsider his resignation as pastor of Ridgewood Baptist Church after delivering a sermon on September 22. Members agreed to take the step at a recent meeting and Andereck promised an answer before the next gathering. John McCurrie chaired the session.

Tohn Davies aged 64 and Mrs Mary James aged 62 were married in Chicago yesterday. Davies is a retired dry goods dealer, formerly proprietor of a store now run by his son in law Thomas Hughes. Mrs Davies, widow of Taté Samuel James, has worked as a foreman and lately lived with a sister in Pennsylvania. No preliminary announcements were made.
Bloutie and Starsha, self confessed in serious cases, are to be arraigned tomorrow at nine o'clock before Judge Marshale.
Anthony Blouth and Mathew Stakha, called youthful murderers, await final disposition after confessions. They are to be arraigned at 9 AM tomorrow with families urged to attend as State Attorney Heise and Attorney D Arcy review whether pleas are entered. If convicted or pled guilty, the outcome could mark one of the state's youngest death penalty cases. The jury is excused until Monday at 9 AM.
George Seiler thirty two of Lockport dies after a fast dash to overtake a passing rig on Herkimer street. A broken line is blamed as he fell headfirst from the wagon, neck broken, and died instantly. Witnesses testified the team was in rapid motion and the driver of the other rig was unknown. The coroner's inquest returned a verdict in line with the facts and the body was taken to Lockport for interment. Funeral set from State street home to St Joseph's Church.
James B Hoge, noted as Grundy County's first white child born in the area, died at 9 10 yesterday morning at his home on Jackson and Fulton streets. Age unspecified, he had suffered five months from stomach cancer and was under care of his daughter Mrs. Chris Laub during illness. Doctors diagnosed cancer, no operation was performed, and he endured two weeks of intense pain before death in Morris on October 8.
Louis Gavigan faces a Tuesday hearing on October 13 after an attempted shooting of Detective Mason during a Wednesday arrest. He was arraigned before Police Magistrate Allen with bonds set at 500 dollars, partner Henry Gabriel also arraigned with the same bond.
Miss Helen Egbert entertained ten friends Tuesday evening at her Center street home. Honor of Grace Corcoran who leaves soon with her parents for Jacksonville, guests played cards and enjoyed music and a luncheon prepared by the hostess.
