A bitter dispute simmers as CcCormick clashes with the Sanitary District and Local Light & Power Company over charges and duties. Officials say talks continue despite mounting tensions and flat accusations.
Chicago telegraph special reports President R. McCormick of the Sanitary District assailing Economy Light & Power Co. for alleged water power rights and misaligned legislation. He cites a 22 year old Hering report and claims damages from a clause restraining canal work. McCormick accuses corrupt acts and calls for corrective action amid controversy over water power value.
John Ditton city-barn foreman leaves Nebraska to attend the national barn meeting. In his absence Ed Malone will be in charge at the barn and related operations in Omaha.
In Kendall County near Seward township a barn and a calf burned when lightning struck yesterday. A helper sheltered in the barn perished in the blaze.
Gen P C Hayes of Chicago will lead a delegation of the Illinois Loyal Legion to Washington to press Congress for a law placing surviving Civil War officers on the retired list. Serenous Ostrem suffered a serious hand injury at Spot Cash bakery on Wednesday after his hand jammed in a mixing machine. The accident left one thumb broken and ten stitches required before the trapped hand could be released after about a 15 minute ordeal.
