Healy Alexander of Lockport, a member of the panel, caused astonishment by a sudden extemporaneous address to the jury. The incident drew attention in the courtroom and raised questions about decorum and procedure.
Henry Alexander of Lockport, on the November jury panel, criticized court delays during a Circuit Court session. He argued that juries are drawn yet many cases are dismissed or moved, leaving taxpayers paying jurors who render nothing. Judge Marshall responded with patience, noting occasional delays are part of procedure and that Alexander’s intent appeared sincere.
Chicago Carnation Company dominated the National Flower Show in Chicago winning the $100 silver cup for the best vase of 100 carnations with White Perfection. They took twenty eight prizes including a Bronze medal for Aristocrat and two first prizes with the same variety. A. T. Pyfer notes two years of preparation for the first national show and lists varieties such as White Perfection Aristocrat Enchantress Beacon and Victory scarlet among others.

Milo Turner resigns as day clerk at the Hotel Munroe after purchasing a new hotel in Hamilton Missouri. The traveling fraternity and business men know him well. Furniture and furnishings are being bought locally while no replacement has been named yet.

A. Merriman, ticket salesman at the Santa Fe passenger depot, has resigned to purchase Jensen's Pawnshop on Van Buren Street from C. F. Jensen. Jensen will focus on the automobile business. K. E. Belton is promoted to night supervisor, with C. R. Cooper from Streator taking the night position.

The International Paper Co mills in Berlin reopened today with full force after a three month strike. In Windham and New London counties all cotton mills moved to full time, some after a year on half-time. Rumford mill shifted from three eight-hour shifts to a ten-hour day with a 5 percent wage increase, affecting over 1,500 workers.
Henry F. Schmidt is appointed deputy clerk of the County court to replace A. M. Bourgo who resigned to become assistant postmaster. Schmidt, former clerk of the Board of Local Improvements under the Barr administration, is praised for experience and esteem in Joliet. John W. Downer has filed a $1000 assumpsit suit against Jacob W. Rausch.

The production raises funds for Silver Cross hospital and features solo dancers Myrtle Spellman and Hazel Holmes with Rupert Maurice Goldberg in the Royal Guard.

The Supreme Court denied Albert T. Patrick a petition for a new trial. he remains incarcerated in Sing Sing for the murder of William Marsh Rice.
Dan Obsetnik was taken into custody on a warrant for assault and battery but released after signing a waiver. He pled guilty and paid a $12.50 fine to avoid Sunday detention, as reported by Detective Hennessy and Captain Corcoran.

Lipple and Kostic signed waivers after late Saturday arrest and paid 8.50 fines. Stanton pled guilty and 8.50 fine remitted on promise to behave. Burdeck faced three charges and paid an 8.50 fine.
