Fireman John Muir Injured in Locomotive Collision

Fireman John Muir of the Elgin Joliet & Fast freight line was injured Sunday when his engine struck a car in Sterling Avenue. He suffered a long cut to the leg but received prompt medical care and was sent home, expected to be up in a few days.

Brother of Flehd in Joliet Prison

A half brother of Mrs. Gunness, famed arch fiend of La Porte Indiana, is thought to be an inmate at Illinois state prison. A circulating report links a man named Eligs Kundlu, jailed for attempting to murder his wife, but detective Captain Martin Murphy doubts it. Another report claims the mysterious burglar from Kane County named Connors is connected to identification efforts.

Mrs. Julia Trafmor, aged 89, who fell and fractured her hip several days ago, was moved to St. Joseph's Hospital yesterday afternoon. Her advanced age leaves her condition very critical. She resided on Elwood Street.

James Radford dies. longtime Illinois United Mine Workers official

James Radford secretary treasurer of the Illinois United Mine Workers died Saturday night at St John’s hospital Springfield. A Braceville resident for years he worked in local mines and helped lead state union activity. Born in England he immigrated young and rose to senior duties after nine years as assistant secretary treasurer. He underwent major surgery about six weeks ago and did not recover as hoped.

Five Motherless Children Left After Tragic Event

The second operation was performed but failed to recover from the shock leaving Mrs. Jord with five motherless children. The eldest is under ten and the siblings are now doubly orphaned.

Farmer in Wild Runaway Injures Channahon Man

Charles Borga of Channahon was seriously injured in a runaway on Railroad Street yesterday afternoon at 3 o clock. A broken trace on a spirited team caused the pole to drop and the wagon to lunge, hurling Borga through the air and leaving him unconscious. He was revived at the Great Western Cereals Co office and sent home after police and a doctor treated him. Two companions were with him as the team was stopped at Channahon.

Barrett block demolition nears completion at Filinton and Chicago

Work on tearing down the Barrett block at the intersection of Filinton and Chicago streets is nearing completion. The Foster National has not yet announced plans for the new building to be erected there.

Laborer Crushed at Illinois Steel Mill. Leg Amputated

John Yackovitch a laborer at the Merchant mill was crushed under billets at the Illinois Steel mill on Friday morning. He was taken to St Joseph's hospital where his left leg was amputated. Doctors believe the other limb may be saved despite severe crush injuries. A wagon used to move the heavy billets collapsed causing the accident.
