Eve Veirigg a cashier and stenographer at Globe Insurance, routed a thief in the top floor office on Indicato Street with a paper weight. The intruder fled after being confronted, and detectives pursued but the burglar, likely Mr Brownholz, left town. Veirigg saved a considerable sum for the insurer.
In a circuit court session Savage public administrator for the Stan Wiski estate filed suit against the Chicago and Alton Railroad for $10,000. Edward R. r represents the plaintiff. The action stems from an accident in November when Wiski, a single man, was killed at Columbia tossing by an engine. The praecipe was locally recorded in Circuit Clerk Ki's office.
A Joliet plumber identified as Sundstrom appeared in court this morning for practicing without the required license. The case, labeled a practical object lesson, involves the Bar company and highlights licensing violations in the trade.

L H Piepenbrink announced the engagement of Ethlyn Mary Hasey to Louis H Piepenbrink. The couple plans a May 7 wedding. Piepenbrink is the eldest son of Henry F Piepenbrink and family of Herman Mathias Will 22 Emma Schroeder Will 18.
