The advertisement touts Queen Quality Shoes for women as the peak of shoe building combining beauty and durable leather. Priced at three dollars, the copy claims exclusivity in town with the trademark mark on the sole and inside upper, urging customers to look for it.
Recount shows Barr 800 and Purkhiser 769 on city attorney votes after 25 disputed ballots left undecided. Court notes 1645 total ward votes with 87 ballots lacking a city attorney race and plans to continue review over several days.
Emma L Stephen and David D Monahan were married at St Patrick’s Church in a 1 PM ceremony officiated by Father Dunne. The couple, who will reside on Baker Avenue after a trip to Chicago and Wisconsin, were joined by close relatives for luncheon and a brief reception. The groom, a well known contractor, traveled with his brother Frank to the station after the ceremony.

This afternoon the pupils of Mrs. Clarence Davidson presented a juvenile piano recital to a large audience. The program included duets, solos, and trios such as Golden Youth, March Militaire, Beauties of Paradise, and May Breezes, with performances by Shuck Hunpertort, Olga Hilcher, Julia Kearney, Lillian Wayman, Frieda Nichols, and Viola McCoy among others.
Miss Virginia C Pratt daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Pratt formerly of this city and Walter J Muller of Joliet wed at noon yesterday home 143 Lake street Aurora Rev Chas Holbrook officiated witnessed by close friends due to bride illness. Decorations daisies pink roses palms and ferns. They will reside in Aurora with no honeymoon as groom works for Chicago and Aurora Smelting and Refining Co. Joliet guests listed.
Edward H Moodey who died in Chicago was brought to this city on the 12 15 Alton train and laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery. Accompanying the casket were Mrs Mary Moodey his mother in law and sister in law Mrs Clarence Chapman and family and company officials. Rev Jas Lewis officiated at the grave service. Visitors returned to Chicago except Mrs Edward Moodey who remains guest of her mother in law at 216 Hobbs Ave. The community extends sympathy.
Rev D D Odell of Eastern Ave Baptist Church officiated two marriages last evening at 206 South Bluff and his Herkimer street home. Asa Clemons of Custer Park wed Ad die Budreau of Joliet, both to reside in Wilmington. A second couple James W Gregory and Marie Mooney, both of Joliet, were married in the pastor’s Joliet. Hutchingon Co. supplied kindling.
The Sanitary District of Chicago invites bids to develop water power under lease at Lockport and Joliet Hickory Creek. Proposals due August 23 with $50,000 cash or certified check. Bidders must show plan, provide cash payment, preserve navigable waterway, and may propose one or both sites.
