Nurses Graduate at Auditorium in Silver Cross Tribute

Six young women from the Silver Cross Hospital Training School received diplomas in a ceremony at the auditorium. E C Hagar urged service to the sick and Marion K Bowles delivered the charge, stressing selfless nursing and faith in Christ's command to heal the afflicted.

Hospital ladies honor graduates at church reception

In the church parlors the hospital ladies advisory board hosted a reception for the graduates. Ice cream and cake were served as well wishes were expressed for the graduates beginning their life journeys.

Inmates Cause Trouble At The Bissell House

Last evening at the Bissell house inmates and a guard clashed over lemons leading to threats and a tossed package. The confrontation drew a crowd, with the accused woman hurling insults and threats while others laughed and watched the scene unfold. A separate note advertises a July 4 running race at Ingalls Park for Will County farmers' horses, with a $30 cash purse.

New German Society Aims to Build Platt Deutsch Lodge

Paul H. Rapp of Der Beobachter promotes the Platt deutsche Gilden in Illinois and neighboring states. Mill Worker Killed by Falling Skull at Illinois Steel Plant

Stephen Guidos 35, a converting mill employee, was fatally struck by a 3000 pound skull fragment from a No 1 vessel stack at the Illinois Steel company mill. One other man injured slightly. inquest held at Chamberlin's, remains moved to Nemaniah's. Guidos had just returned from Austria where he was married.

Disorderly conduct linked to smallpox incident at Bissell house

Frank Wallace paid 5.25 in police court for disorderly conduct after entering the Bissell house during a smallpox quarantine. P Hartong also faced disorderly conduct charges in the same disturbance. George Stahl waived a preliminary hearing after a watch theft arrest and was bound over to the grand jury in 100 bond. Ilea Conak booked for disorderly conduct amid a noted nighttime ride to Rock Run park with Holman’s music.
