State's attorney filed a motion in circuit court asking that all ballots tally sheets and poll books from the last city election stay in Master in Chancery Hill custody and be turned over for the investigation. The affidavit alleges tampering occurred while ballots were with the city clerk and names several individuals as possible actors.
A conference committee from the state board of Prison Industries, state institutions, and Gov Deneen arrived at the penitentiary to classify goods for manufacture in state penitentiaries and reformatories. They will report to Secretary Tanner by July 1. Members include Superintendents from Bartonville and Jacksonville asylums and officials from Quincy and other homes. They did not specify session length.
The Sunday school convention met at Richards Street Methodist with an energetic opening session. Rev N A An led the home department and Mrs Storm spoke on Norlea work and its benefits. Rev Nye directed the home department. committees were postponed and a large attendance was hoped for this evening.
Last night the Order of White Cross organized as Council No 88 in the hall with fifty charter members. The charter will remain open for additional members and future operations of the group.

District details list counties grouped into ten districts with names including Grundy Kankakee La Salle Will Bureau Henry Knox Mercer Rock Island Warren etc.
Ridgewood Baptist Church receives a new piano from the Men s club. Rev Dr Graff spoke for the club announcing the gift and the church work it will support. An evening program follows with a debate on living a Christian life without attendance at church, three speakers per side, male quartets and a seven piece orchestra.
The city council last night approved the official bond of City Engineer H. A. Stevens for five thousand dollars with John B. Mount and Chas. I. Goodspeed acting as sureties.
Fair conditions continue tonight and Wednesday with gradual temperature rise. Skies remain clear as coastal winds ease and daytime highs trend warmer through midweek.
The elected contest ends with Barr leading Crolius by 122 votes on the city tally. The court completes recounting 48 objected ballots and orders costs shared among all three contestants. Several wards show adjustments to the final totals as parties argued over disputed ballots.
John Cool, a Rockford born convict paroled from Chicago to Lemont, was identified by Chief Emery and Night Captain Carey as the man who forged a deceased proprietor’s signature to a $9.50 check. He admitted a prior forgery, pleaded for release to cover the amount, and was recaptured to serve the remainder of his sentence.
Aurora and Joliet press teams joined a city tour by auto and banquet at the Elks to forge better ties along the Joliet Plainfield Aurora line. A baseball challenge for city championship arose, with plans for a large purse and a neutral venue Electric Park.
Local Improvements board discussed extending a Beech street water main to Allen street after petition changes. Mayor Barr argued altered signatures invalid and urged objectors to consent to avoid higher costs from staged work. A week was set to reconsider. Also a Whit tier avenue to Buell avenue water main petition was received.
M. J. Mc Carthy a South Chicago street saloon keeper and former South Side Pleasure club president is a Democratic alderman candidate in the July 11 special election. His petition has been on file in City Clerk Berscheid’s office for a week, quietly circulated after prior reporting. He previously ran for alderman in 1899 against Martin Whalen and later as an Independent, opposing Whalen and Fred Brockman.
Chicago June 27 members of the Furniture Movers and Expressmen's association continued deliveries to strike bound houses. Drivers threaten to strike if this persists. Employers seem determined to force an issue, possibly extending the strike to 1,000 more teamsters. Sheriff Barrett says strike deputies are being withdrawn at about 100 a day due to decreasing violence.
Judge H W Hilscher died at his Watseka home at 5 this morning after months of illness. He served two terms on the circuit bench and was highly regarded by Joliet lawyers and county judges. Born in Germany, he settled in Kankakee county and was connected with the drainage and Jefferson street bridge cases. Funeral is set for Thursday at 2 p.m. with Will County Bar association members attending.
News from Tucson reports twelve ranchers and several women and children killed by a band of about 100 Yaqui Indians raiding Buenos Ayres in Sonora Mexico. Ranchers and thirty employees repulsed the raid. Proprieter Jesus Orlando and Francisco Orlando and neighbor Luis Carranza died. Twenty Yaquis were killed. five captured near Hogy were hanged by American miners who came to aid the victims.
John M. Danti will give a free lecture at the Jackson Grange hall on July first. The talk covers farming social education and labor in a general comparison. Grange members are asked to arrive early for the business meeting.
