Daughters of Liberty Drill Team Impress Veterans at Castle Hall

A large reception for Department Commander P C Hayes featured a standout exhibition drill by the Daughters of Liberty No 14. Sixteen white clad members performed precise evolutions before a crowd including Grand Army of the Republic leaders. Hayes praised patriotism and thanked supporters as attendees lauded the team’s mastery.

Firebug Captured in Peter Peterson Case Near Dwight

Peter Peterson, accused of setting fire to Henry Tweet's barn southwest of Morris to cover horse theft, was arrested by City Marshal Andy Brown at 7:30 am. He was turned over to Grundy County sheriff and taken to Morris. Peterson admitted walking from Kinsman and claimed he was nearby seeking work, denying arson.

Elk Party to Leave for Los Angeles
