In a courtroom session the judge ruled that Third and Fifth ward ballots were tampered with after canvassing. Ballots would not prevail over official returns and the count proceeded for the Sixth ward.
A coroner’s inquest in Ottawa reports Sol Lingle found dead in his room at Mrs Rose Gouts home on North Ottawa street. The jury ruled death from unknown causes though friends say heavy drinking was recent for the 45 year old laborer. Mrs Gout described him waking intoxicated and claiming a street car struck him, but no injuries were found and no report of such an accident exists.
police arrested Joe Baker a boy missing since Friday at Rock Run park on a request from his mother Mrs Minnie Zimmerman 112 Walnut Street. Officer Kelly made the arrest and the youth was returned home with his mother.
Fred Gritte Jr of New Lenox lost his right arm in a mill accident last Saturday while working among machinery. His arm was crushed and mangled when caught in a shaft. surgeons amputated the limb and he was recovering as well as could be expected from the shock and operation.
Ambulance called to the corner of Columbia and Collins streets to remove a man who had fallen from a northbound street car. On arrival the victim had disappeared. no names were obtained.
Last week the Mutual Protective League elected delegates for the state picnic to be held in Jacksonville. August 10 delegates include J. P. Lennard Thomas Wogan Jack Barrett W Balch Eva Long Mary Gallus BE Higgins Frank Longley Lillie Pelkey. The excursion will be managed by.
Fair tonight and Tuesday with warmer conditions on Tuesday. Concert and dance at Rock Run tomorrow night by the famous News boys band.
The local association plans a Joliet state meet excursion. A 6:30 a.m. train on the Chicago and Alton will return at excursionists convenience. Capt. Pearson of the Woodman team leads Joliet efforts. 200 tickets are needed to secure the special train. The outing includes sports parades and drills in a Morgan Lake park setting.
John M. Wolfrum wins unopposed at Robesson hall as Sixth ward Republicans nominate him for the July 11 special election to fill the Spears vacancy. Precinct delegates from Haley’s livery stable and Kennedy’s building supported Wolfrum. Democrats plan to back M J McCarthy by petition, while Richard Roland runs as an independent.
Dr. Sunshine sought a city hall heart to heart to secure a exclusive scoop from the city clerk. Gerscheid refused to be lured by red headed hype, leaving Lambert’s Herald without a two column city hall scoop yesterday.

Ridgewood resident Charles Nelson reports his wife lost 43 dollars in bills while shopping Saturday evening. The money was in her pocketbook and vanished after visits to one or two stores despite a search at the time.
Testimony from locksmith D. Y. Smith and City Clerk Berscheid details changing the vault combination at City Hall the day after the election. Police Chief Emery corroborates night watch of the vault as reporters and court observers note ballot handling and indelible pencil use during the election contest proceedings.
The thirty second annual Will County Sunday School Convention meets tomorrow at 9 30 a m at Richards Street M E Church for a two day program. Delegates from all counties are urged to attend with notebooks and pencils as experienced workers share methods and ideas. Samuel W King replaces George W Young with a paper on How to Keep Boys in the Sunday School.
Mrs. W. C. Holzhauer hosted an eight course luncheon Saturday for Miss Kathryn Shaffner in anticipation of her upcoming marriage to Leon F. Reicks. Pink decorations set the bridal tone and seven covers were arranged.
Tomorrow evening the Glenwood club will entertain at Hobbs to honor Miss Cecil Vance and her upcoming marriage to Charles A. Clement set for July 3. The dinner follows a long standing club tradition.
V Brennan hosted a group of about seventy five at Diamond Lake yesterday. They traveled on the J at 7 pm and spent a long day at the summer resort, returning about 1:00 pm.
Detectives watched three sticks of dynamite found under the coal office of Frank Barthelme on Washington Street for a week but failed to identify the person who placed it there. The charge was moved to police headquarters for safekeeping. Authorities note two other explosive incidents recently with no arrests and suspect local troublemakers without proof.
This morning the Will County teachers institute began under Superintendent W. H. Neveng. Attendance was strong with high expectations for a week of practical instruction. Speakers included Mr Weeks of Fremont on music and Mr W. H. Campbell on Geography.
Crowds poured into Plainfield Electric Park yesterday as band concerts and resort sports drew heavy patronage. Dancing drew strong turnout at Nowaboys’ concert Tuesday night with about thirty boys in the band.
