A Monon freight train bound south was derailed near Ashgold at 3 this morning in Lafayette Indiana. Three tramps were killed in the wreck. A stray line appears about a woman repeating what she said to others and a comment on men seeking things for nothing.
A young boy Harold Zinzer, who suffered from diphtheria, died recently. Funeral arrangements were quiet with flowers and his school badge worn at home. He had been a favorite among playmates and showed calm faith and prayer requests before his passing.
Ex mayor P C Haley argues the Keserle license is invalid, citing Illinois statutes requiring a majority vote for granting a dramshop license. He says the license is merely paper and ink and that court rulings allow scrutiny of how licenses were granted, with city records as key evidence.

Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Sorenson and Alderman A. J. Sorenson from Chicago.
A Soule of Ottawa linked with Murphy to run The Duncan hotel under Murphy & Soule management. Soule, a veteran hotel man with experience in Louisville and Streator, will be the active manager, bringing modern hotel standards to Ottawa.
The July 1 effective law will not affect children at work who already provided affidavits. Attorney General Hamlin says the act is stringent and future hires must obtain age affidavits from school authorities, not parents.
