Belgrade June 24 King Peter Karageorgevitch arrived this morning to an ovation as cabinet members city authorities and diplomats greeted him at the frontier. A 100000 strong crowd lined the procession into the city and festivities were planned for the week. He will take the oath of office before the Skupstina tomorrow. Russian ambassador first to present credentials. Dutch Turkish English French German and Italian envoys absent by their governments order.

In Indiana Harbor the first eight hour day strike by machinists at Inland Steel is ordered as part of a national campaign. Chicago reports similar actions likely as old contracts lapse and employers resist new terms. A stockyards teamsters strike is also imminent, seeking two and a half cents an hour, with packers offering two. If unresolved, last year’s rioting could recur.
A Frisco passenger train wrecked near Cherryvale Kansas this morning. Two people were killed and several others injured in the collision.
The steamer Oceanic reached New York with Sir Thomas Lipton aboard today. The arrival was reported by Scripps-McRae and marks Lipton’s latest maritime voyage to the city.

An official dispatch reported Gen. Manning commanding British forces in Somaliland broke a surrounding encirclement by Mad Mullah forces and reached Damot on Monday.

James Donovan alias Michael Redmond entered Bridewell keeper Stukel s home early this morning and rifled the officer s trousers. He was captured later and jailed for ninety days on vagrancy charges. Stanislaw Prusekada and Stanislaw Zag zda, both 16 and 17, were fined $100 each for stealing scrap iron from Illinois Steel Co after a hearing by Police Magistrate Cameron.
Medals awarded at St Mary's Academy twenty third commencement at the opera house. Gold medals for academic excellence and doctrine, silver for attendance and penmanship, were given to juniors and seniors amid praise from Father McNamee and Sister Leaton. The program featured concerts, dramatic scenes from Sleeping Beauty, and a farewell recitation by graduates including Jessie Hall Anna Ryan Jennie Halkyard Mary Magner.
By a 7 to 4 vote the anti reaffirmationists won control of the resolutions committee at the caucus prior to the state democratic convention at 11 o clock today. The silver men accepted defeat with poor grace and planned to carry the fight to the convention floor to place delegates on record.
Mrs Minnie Schumm after fourteen years as a St Peters Evangelical Lutheran primary grade teacher received a surprise farewell today. Leland J. Grant, 13, of 2 Clement street, Joliet, died Sunday morning from a wound caused by a blank cartridge in a toy pistol. He died at 5 o clock and his funeral was held Monday at 1 30 p m with burial in Maple Hill cemetery at Elwood.
The Central Presbyterian church ladies were entertained at Mrs. James Speers home on Third avenue for the weekly thimble party. A fine program followed the business, featuring a duet by Mrs. George Barr and Miss Genevieve Speer, instrumental pieces by Mrs. Knowlton, and a reading from Wagner's The Simple Life by Dr. Milner. Refreshments were served.
M Grant with wife and family express gratitude to relatives, friends, neighbors, physicians, ministers and undertakers for their kindness, assistance, faithful services and flowers during the illness and burial of their son and brother Leland J. Grant. Those who wore armor were the first mail carriers.

The public usage of sidewalks must be uninterrupted and unobstructed, with access to light and air across the entire public right of way. The circuit court ruling allowing encroaching windows was reversed.
A group of Miss Ruble D. Drew’s young friends gathered at 111 Mound Street to surprise her on her birthday. She was visiting a neighbor when the plan unfolded and she returned to her home to find the event ready. An informal program of games and amusements preceded refreshments at 11 o’clock and a group photo at midnight capped the celebration.
