Committee Chosen for Labor Day Park Arrangements

Mail Carriers Picnic at Santa Fe Park Draws Thousands

Joliet mail carriers and about 200 friends joined several thousand Chicago and other guests at Santa Fe Park near Lemont for a full day of outdoor recreation. The grounds hosted dancing, riding, a balloon ascension, and various amusements as crowds arrived by Santa Fe trains from early morning through evening.

Morris Reds lose to Standards 8 0 as umpire Magner drew ire

In Morris yesterday a crowd of about four hundred watched the Standards defeat Morris 8 to 0. Leitman starred with two double hits, McMahon struggled on the mound, and Joliet’s Lyons scored on errors. Umpire Magner drew protests as fans complained about balls and strikes, while Woodmen plan an exciting game next Friday against the Elks.

A Coming Wedding Unites Dr LeSage and Miss Meera

The wedding of Dr. Philip LeSage and Miss Lizsie Meera is set for the last week of June at Sacred Heart church with Rev Father LeSage officiating. After the ceremony the couple will tour Canada and the eastern states. Miss Meers is daughter of Mrs. dr. Meers and Miss Catherine Baker of Delaware, a longtime Methodist member.

Lemont Engineer Peter McGauliff Killed by Street Car

Peter McGauliff a Lemont resident and stationary engineer was killed last evening by a northbound street car near Lockport. Coroner’s inquest heard from Motorman McCoy and Conductor Hanson but left many questions, with death by own action considered though foul play ruled out by the jury.
