Philadelphia June 22 McKinley was unanimously renominated for president at 1 48 pm and a little later Theodore Roosevelt of New York was chosen to run as vice president The scene was tumultuous with vigorous demonstrations as delegates cheered and roared around the platform. Roosevelt seconded the nomination and spoke with the typical impetuous energy. The convention adjourned sine die at 2 14 pm with McKinley receiving 930 votes and Roosevelt 929 including his own.
Before adjournment Senator Scott moved to elect George Wiswell of Milwaukee unanimously as sergeant at arms of the national committee for four years replacing H L Swords who resigned.
