A train accident near Monee killed two small boys aged nine and seven after they were hurled from a car platform as a high speed train passed. The incident involved a group of youths playing near the tracks, with authorities investigating the circumstances.
Frank and Hugh Clark aged unknown were killed near Monee when they wandered onto a moving Illinois Central train en route from Iroquois to Michigan with their mother Mrs L Clark. Coroner Wunderlich to hold inquest. no witnesses. The mother is described as nearly insane by grief.
A swarm of hundreds of bees gathered around an electric light at the corner of Chicago and Van Buren today noon in Crown Point Indiana. Spectators watched as the insects circled and then departed after confirming the area was unsuitable for a swarm. John C Wiegel of 245 N Bluff street enrolled at the University of Chicago this morning for summer study.
The Board of Local Improvements ordered the city clerk to advertise for bids to build a brick pavement on South Chicago Street from Fifth Avenue to Duncan Street at an estimated cost of 13 330.56 payable in ten annual installments.
Joliet Council No 2 and Illinois Council No 1 of the White Cross enjoyed a picnic at Rock Run Park. About two hundred attendees traveled by barge and steamer Wetcome, with a 9 to 5 ball game victory for Joliet. The park’s improvements and fine picnic facilities drew hearty approval from members.

John Gromo and Mike Gildes were arrested after attempting extreme fast driving with a rented horse from Amos Brockway. They faced charges linked to previous burglaries and appeared before Judge Allen who imposed fines they paid before leaving. The police turned the vehicle over to its owner.
Dwight Casey a former clerk in the street superintendent office was declared insane and sent to the state hospital at Kankakee this morning at 11 oclock upon the joint application of his sister Mrs W D Heise and his wife Mrs L C Casey Casey a well known and popular young man in the city was a year ago the democratic nominee for town clerk Friends hope his illness is temporary

Alfred Hefferle makes a dash for liberty at noon when the door to the cell area is opened. Officers fail to stop him as he escapes from the city station in a dramatic midday breakout.
Alfred Hefferle, who sought to head Joliet police, was captured in a demented state and then escaped from the city bridewell today. Hefferle, already known for a prior escape, fled within the jail as a visitor brought him a meal. He was sentenced to thirty days in county jail this morning by Justice Allen.
Alice Clara Samuels files for divorce from Burnton Elbert Samuels alleging repeated assaults since 1908 including a December attack with a drawn razor and threats to kill. She seeks custody of their son Burn ton Teabrook Samuels. case notes mention a city water main and sewer assessment objections.
The Rockdale village plans a council meeting to decide on a gas lighting project and sidewalks, curbing, and paving. Reformers push for modernization as Rock Island promises a railroad station if a suitable site is provided, with administration determined to realize the plan.
