Open Bombardment at United States Hotel Ends in Suicide
A man who registered at Thoms Lobb last night opened fire from a fifth floor room in the United States hotel at 9 today. He wounded eight passersby and one policeman before killing himself with a revolver. Officers breached the room and found him deceased. several victims sustain injuries to the eye, cheek, jaw, knee, and arm. Fragments of $50 bills and a butcher knife were found in the room along with a Carpenters' union card and the British consul’s address in San Francisco.
