Joliet Bridge Bonds Rejected By City Counsel

Attorney Charles B. Wood advised Mason, Lewis & Co. to refuse Joliet bridge bonds as illegal. City faces two new bridges with no funds, may need a 31,000 budget appropriation. Plan pivots to a test case before Judge Dibell, with proceedings to reach the supreme court this winter.

Fourth of July Entertainment at Ingalls Park Joliet

Manager Weber announces a big Independence Day program at Ingalls Park starting 1 30 p m featuring the Independent Union band balloon ascension and a series of races. Horse races include 2 20 trot best two in three heats for 50 purse running race for Will county farmers horses best two in three heats for 30 purse and a gentlemen's road race. Bicycle events at 2 p m include a one mile free for all five mile handicap two mile handicap and a one mile race for boys under 15 with various purses. Advertising bills are being posted throughout the county today.

Dance at Rock Run Episcopal Club Draws Crowds

At Rock Run a Tuesday evening dance hosted by the Episcopal club drew many visitors to the park. Guests enjoyed the shoot the chutes bowling alley and dancing pavilion while others sought shade or quiet time. A 6 oclock shower sent some home, but the crowd returned on the evening boat, and the pavilion stayed lively until departures by streetcar to Jefferson street. Park managers aided attendees and ladies served supper. event overseen by Mrs Anna Stinson with assistance from Mesdames Jones Roberts Brown and Wilcox.

Equestrian Club Debuts With Troy Ride In Rain

The Equestrian Club, new to Joliet society, made its inaugural trip last evening to Troy and back. Thirteen riders, led by J L O'Donnell with guests including M Fellman and Dr E H Stewart, enjoyed a successful outing despite heavy rain. Parson Walker’s lawn was proposed as a grazing spot for future gatherings.

Change in Old Firm Joliet as Davis Retires

The retirement of A. L. Davis from the Joliet firm Chamberlin & Co. brings Fred M. Chamberlin to become junior partner. The firm will be Geo. N. Chamberlin & Son with Chamberlin active in management and noted for social standing and Audubon work in Florida.

Old Offender Brought to Justice at Police Station

Robert Cutshaw was arrested on a warrant after months of pursuit. He faced a fine for the disturbance caused by a quarrel with the husband of a woman friend. James Clark and Charles Fieney paid fines for disorderly conduct. Mrs Mary O'Donnell returned to the station and received a time limit.

Fourth of July Pichc Bicycle and Horse Races Notice

Elyria Bicycle club of Joliet presents bicycle races on the Fourth of July with John McFadden in charge of horse events. Prizes include 2 dollars for a free-for-all pacing race 20 dollars for a free-for-all trotting race and 19 dollars for a running race. Two bands will play at the park with refreshments for all.

In Joliet a new assumpsit suit is filed by Bates Machine Company against Joliet Street Railway Company. The circuit court adjourned until tomorrow morning due to limited business and appellate court workload.
