The Joliet elevated track project between the Santa Fe and Chicago & Illinois lines begins this afternoon at 4 o clock from the Santa Fe station. Mayor Cronin will signal the start as engines move to lift and align the tracks, marking the near completion of the joint elevation plan amid years of delays and economic turmoil. The trial run will include city officials and business leaders, with full regular use likely after adjustments to timetable and cross-rail operations.

Dr Brown of First Presbyterian offers advice and congratulations as almost three hundred Joliet city schools eighth graders receive diplomas. James Lyons of the board of education presents diplomas at a 2:30 start in the Joliet Theatre. The class is the largest ever sent out from Joliet schools with strong musical numbers by the pupils chorus and orchestra.
The speaker urged youth to pursue knowledge and uphold high ideals. The program featured orchestral works such as The Forest King and Hortencia Overture, choral pieces, invocations by Rev. Dr. Howard M Hellman, remarks by Rev. Dr. Charles M Brown, and the presentation of diplomas by President James M. Lyons.
Judge Hooper sustained the demurrer and dismissed the case for want of equity in Kate and Dennis Mahegan versus Jos and Martin Schuster. The court found the land deal claims unreasonable and impossible, vindicating the Schusters. Judge Dibell had issued the same decision in January. Attorneys Louis Lagger for the defendants and Darcy for the complainants.

Louis Fenolio saved two others before discovering Picco had slipped from the sand bar and disappeared beneath the water. Picco, 28, a Torino saloonkeeper, leaves a widow and two young children. funeral set for Saturday morning.
The Sacred Heart school will graduate its June class with diplomas conferred by Rev. Father Henry G. Van Pelt. Honors and first communion will mark the ceremony on Tuesday morning June 21 after benediction for St Aloysius Day.
