Silver jubilee of Western Catholic Union held at Joliet

Hundreds from Aurora Lemont Waterford Naperville Wilmington and Chicago attended the Joliet event at Theller's Park celebrating the Western Catholic Union. A parade led by the Steel Works band opened the day with a supper and afternoon concert and a Champion Drill Team display drawing large crowds.

Birthday surprise at home party for young hostess

Polls gathered at the home on Field Avenue to celebrate the seventh birthday of a young hostess. Family members present included Torna Schwartz Atils Yin Lorna Schwartz and Mrs Michael Schwartz. Guests enjoyed games and refreshments as gifts were opened.

Woman Lives After Poison Mix Tells of Attempt

Mrs. G. F. Ross of 1022 East Jackson street swallowed a mixture of tincture of iodine and other poisons Saturday night in a failed suicide attempt. Prompt antidotes saved her, and she was removed to Silver Cross hospital then returned home and will recover. Family troubles are cited as the motive.
