Eugene Field reflects on youth and memory in a nostalgic verse. He recalls knowing birds plants and streams in a familiar orchard and laments forgotten knowledge while a young child now shares those memories. The poem ends with a wish to return to boyhood and happiness.
The Joliet Woodmen delegation, about thirty strong, travels in a special coach to Indianapolis with banners and a Des Moines escort. The group includes Camp Clerks officials and will perform, rehearse, and attend the Modern Woodmen national convention with guest leaders from Illinois and Des Moines.

The Italian community prepares a first ever Sunday picnic at Shooting Park on June 21. John Teapot, a Sixth Ward politician and merchant, manages the event and promises a grand outing for friends and neighbors. Additional picnics are planned in the future.
William McCowan highway commissioner won the stone work contract for Joliet Gas Company's new plant on Ingalls avenue in the northwest city district. The bid from six competitors totals about $19,000. Architect Allen says the project requires a $50,000 overall outlay and work will start immediately.
The Eastern Avenue Church celebrated Children’s Day with a green decor and palm arrangements. Eighteen youngsters advanced from primary to junior through diploma awards as the program featured recitations and songs. In the evening Miss Baer spoke on Kiowa mission work in Oklahoma, sharing experiences and relics from life among the Kiowa.

The evening program featured Solos, choir performance, and organ works by Albert Hindle and others.
The finance committee reports a 30 to 40 percent dividend from the surplus funds raised for Roosevelt day. They seek contributor input before acting and may postal request suggestions on proper use. A strong idea was to hold the surplus in reserve and appoint trustees to manage a city decorating fund for future large events. The aim is a lasting pot to adorn the city during major occasions. The senior class organized a spring picnic at Rock Run park with boats on Jefferson Street dock and a canal trip. Parks staff provided a two piece orchestra but criticism from dancers caused the band to quit. girls took turns playing band later.
City residents enjoyed warm weather with crowded events at West Park where Everson led a popular concert. Rock Run Park also attracted sizable crowds from morning to evening as plans for a full season festival gained momentum.
