City to improve Richards Street grounds for athletic field
City board members plan to repurpose the Richards street grounds into an athletic field for public school students. They will remove a sidewalk, have contractors dump and fill low ground, and straighten the creek bed. Thomas Reitz, a worker at an electric plant in Kirkland DL, was struck on the head with an iron bar by a fellow worker at 6 Second Avenue last Saturday. He was severely injured and rushed to Kirkland hospital after the incident.
