Blackhall says the track elevation work is near finish and rough operating margins will improve after completion. Roads and garage updates show progress as routes issue signals and plan post work operations.
General Manager Blackhall announced route changes for the C and J company to relieve the Loop and allow West Side cars to run through. Proposals include double tracks on Clinton Case Ottawa and Jefferson, tying east and west lines, with through service on Brooklyn and South Chicago lines if petitions are granted. The plan aims to cut trip times in half and expand car frequency during peak hours pending elevated work completion.
A statement promises swift transport service as people are urged to get over the road as quickly as street cars can manage. The text stresses prompt movement and efficient service for riders and pedestrians alike.
Will County teachers gather for a five day Institute starting June 27 at the Roosevelt School building. County Supervisor W H Nevens announced instructors include Edna Keith for primary work J M Thompson on music William M Giffin on arithmetic grammar physiology G P Randall on history geography and Grace Hemingway on storytelling. Sessions free to those who paid the county exam fee.
County supervisors meet this week to discuss proceedings and accept the resignation of Captain Charles Rost from the position of superintendent of the county farm. Rost steps down this afternoon with Tuesday’s report anticipated by officials.
The County Board opened a June session to choose a new superintendent and matron for the County Farm after Capt Rost resigns. Four Joliet candidates Alfred Lindgren David Emery Fred Grassle and Thomas Langdon interview board members. A five-member milk committee will confer with the state panel on tuberculin tests and pasteurization.
The funeral for Mrs. Gordon H. Sawyer delayed to Tuesday at 2 PM to allow her Los Angeles sister Mrs. Odell to attend. Odell left for Juliet and is due in time for the service. Mr. Sawyer and the three children arrived with the body this morning. Services at the residence Nicholson street and Western avenue, conducted by Rev. Dr. T. W. MacLean of Christ Episcopal Church.
Judge Goodspeed presiding in state versus James Smith found Smith guilty after delays. He was fined 100 dollars plus costs and plans an appeal to the circuit court. Smith did not appear at termination of trial. bond posted by F H Marsh. He was accused of dynamiting fish at Globe quarry near Rowell avenue opposite Michigan Central quarries. State’s Attorney King assisted. defense by J W Martin. George Blatt spoke for Will County Fish and Game Protective Association.
A travel party led by John L. Servis shifts its Western tour from the Pacific Coast to Yellowstone Park next month. They depart Chicago at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday July 5, travel via Omaha and Denver to Colorado Springs Glenwood Springs Salt Lake City and Ogden, visit all park features, return via Salt Lake City with Sunday free for Mormon services.
Dr C M Brown pastor of the First Presbyterian church launches a sermon series on matrimony, seeking to define the ideal husband wife and young man and woman. He invites anonymous congregation responses woven into the sermons, with the first talk on the ideal husband.
The board accepted the proposed sidewalk plan on Plainfield Avenue with one bid of 16 cents per square foot from George M. Campbell for 12 500 square feet. Final costs for Richards Street walk and Ottawa Street water main projects were approved. Hearings set for June 2 and June 27 with assessments filed and July 5 for Ruby Street sidewalk obligations.
The Sunnysides lost to Ridgewoods 11 to 10 on Saturday afternoon. The Young Maroons routed the Northern Lights 16 to 1, securing another win.
Joseph Bogden and Sudosh the bartender were bound over in $500 and $300 bonds respectively after Judge McCulloch terminated the case against them. Steve Kristom, a fracas participant, was arrested and confessed to presence, while three other Hungarian gypsies are being sought as co defendants in the Burrill assault.
The funeral for Henry Weber, the boy who drowned Saturday in the Gross quarry, took place at 2 PM from his parents home on Summit to the German Lutheran church on Broad way. The coroner's inquest ruled death an accidental drowning. The death of the lad is bly hard.

E. C. Akin and E. R. will present papers at the Joliet bar association final meeting. The session opens at 7 o'clock Wednesday at the club and all members are urged to attend.
