Settlement in Sixth Suit Ends Without Trial
The sixth in a series of personal injury suits was settled out of court yesterday in the Circuit Court. Joseph J. Duffy and the Sanitary District contractors were implicated, with Anna Lynch administratrix of John Lynch's estate as co respondent. the court record shows dismissal of Duffy's action and a non disclosed settlement amount. Lynch, employed by the contracting firm, died February 9, 1905, from a dynamite blast while digging a trench under orders from foreman Andrew Swanson. he was part of a blasting gang with Loretta F. Lynch as survivor, and the widow sought $10,000.
