About 300 homing pigeons were released at 6 am from Rock Island station in a race with premiums for winners. Three coops of young birds began the flight toward home after a coordinated lift by United States Express staff. Two more coops were to come from Moline, but did not arrive. No results yet.
Miss Jessie Hopper hosted a kitchen shower for Miss Etta Hoye of North Ottawa Street in Moran street school circles ahead of her summer marriage to Albert Rickettson. The party featured a touch test game, prize cards for Miss Clara Schiele and a heart shaped box prize for Miss Margaret Bowler, with lanterns and refreshments for teachers and guests.
About 2500 attendees enjoyed a Fairmount Park afternoon featuring a balloon ascent and three lot giveaways. The handsomest woman in the crowd won a lot, awarded to Mrs W J Clark of 407 South Chicago Street. Florence Brown, age one, received a deed to a second lot. Flossie Belmont, the aeronaut, released the envelope containing a third lot deed, later found by John Bolls of 606 North Chicago Street. The crowd remained cheerful as the event concluded.

Sing Sing June 13 Albert Koepping and Oscar Borgstrom were electrocuted here today. Koepping killed John Mayline at Port Jervis in 1903 after a quarrel. Borgstrom killed his wife at Mount Kisco Easter Monday last over jealousy.
