Ivy Planting Marks West Virginia Class of 1906 Ritual
The West Virginia FR class of 1906 planted ivy on the south wall of the high school during a morning ceremony. Students recited the ivy poem by Glenna Hammill and the Ivy song, with Earl Crawford receiving the Ivy Aerator honor. Miss Ruby Holmstrom wrote the ivy words and Miss Stella Walz composed the music. Mrs John Sime a Joliet resident for 36 years died at her home 1203 Lincoln street aged 66 after years of declining health. Born February 12 1840 in Leven Fifeshire Scotland she married John Sime in Dundee in 1865 and settled in Joliet in 1870. She leaves husband five children and two deceased, with funeral at 2 pm Thursday at the family home then Central Presbyterian Church. Rev Robt Yost to officiate. burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
