Leading Illinois businessmen plan a two day meeting June 27 to probe legislative records and curb corruption. Representatives from various traders associations will gather at Peoria to analyze state actions and press for reforms, aiming to unite parties against harmful practices and improve governance.
City hall Peoria hosts a gathering aimed at opposing anti progressive legislation and discussing issues from Illinois through experiences in other states. Prominent speakers are being secured led by President Beach of the local Business Men's association with a list of invited attendees including Nachbour Calmer Barrett King Woodruff Kelly Donahoe Stillman and Adier Jr.
The Joliet library exhibit showcases pupil crafts from multiple city schools with art teaching praised by truant officer Mrs. Margaret Arthur and drawing supervisor Martin Gleason. Hundreds have visited in three days and more viewings are planned, proving art can be taught to all students and not just the gifted.

Officer Burrill faced a strenuous time when he tried to arrest Joe Bogden and three companions in a saloon early today.

Bartender Sudesh and proprietor Bogden denied trouble, but Burrill's testimony and injuries led to convictions. Bogden fined 20 for after hours, 25 for assault, 20 for resisting, 10 for disorderly conduct. Sudesh fined 25 for assault, 20 for resisting, 10 for disorderly conduct. Mayor suspended Bogden’s license pending further action.
Twelve year old Henry Weber, son of John Weber of 713 Summit street, drowned this afternoon in the Gross quarry near Broadway and the J tracks. His companions fled after he fell into about fourteen feet of water, and only after the alarm did workers nearby and authorities reach the scene to recover the body.
The case against E. E. Smith charged with dynamiting fish was argued in Justice Goodspeed's court yesterday afternoon and taken under advisement until 2 o'clock.

Mrs Gordon H Sawyer died after three years of ill health and a winter in Arizona. Her husband and three children travel from Tucson to Joliet with the remains. Funeral arrangements are pending and burial will occur at home with service likely Monday. Her maiden name was Sarah Flemming. she leaves sister Mrs John Odell of Los Angeles.
