Rubens Goldberg Wedding Lights Joliet Sparkle
The Rubens Goldberg union drew 300 guests at the Masonic Temple in Joliet with Rev. A. J. Messing of Chicago officiating. Attendants included Janette May Rubens, Sadie Rubens, and Georges Belmont Rubens, as well as Chicago guests and out-of-town relatives. The reception and supper followed, then a ball until 1 AM. The bride, daughter of Max Goldberg, wore a white gown. the groom is Louis Rubens, son of Nathan Rubens, a Chicago haberdasher. The couple will reside in Joliet after a two-week Omaha stay.

John Seely Dead War Veteran Dies of Paralysis in Joliet
John LeRoy Seely, a member of Company B during the Spanish American War, died at his parents home 702 Oneida street from paralysis after months of tuberculosis. Born February 1871 in Platteville, he lived most of his life in Joliet, worked as a carpenter, and sought service despite failing health before finally enlisting with Company B.

Goss & Co Offer to Remove Dead Animals in Springfield
The Springfield Journal reports Joliet firm Goss & Co proposes to remove all dead animals at no city cost, asking half an acre for a fertilizing plant and a ten year contract. It claims annual city savings of 1000 to 1500, McGowan & Co also sought the contract but filed no formal bid. An ordinance to grant the contract was referred to the ordinance committee.

Catastrophe at El Wood Claims Two Drownings
In Jackson township two men died after drowning in Jackson creek near Elwood. Herman Kieveta and Chris Kurbis entered the water to handle a seine and were swept into a deep hole, vanishing before help arrived. John Kurbis, on shore, summoned aid. bodies recovered after two hours in about nine feet of water. Kieveta and Kurbis were married, with children and spouses awaiting word. Kieveta lived two miles north of Elwood and ran a blacksmith shop. Kurbis was married with several children. Coroner Downey was notified.
