James O'Reilly longtime quarry worker and county pioneer dies at home Saturday night. He built many local stone structures and supported community projects. His passing ends a career shaping local roads and buildings.
James O Reilly a longtime Joliet resident and Democratic leader died at his home on Marion and Center streets after years of public service. Born in Ireland he settled in Oswego New York before moving to Illinois in 1858. Surviving children include Mrs P F E Bannon Miss Mary Rally Mrs M E Canyn and others with funeral plans set after Monday arrival.
A blaze in Engine House No 1 damaged a curtain at an election booth during a Texas polling test. City electrician Hughes was testing wiring when the curtain melted and smoke filled the area, forcing a hastened vote setup.
Local 176 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers held a Saturday banquet at Connor's hall Chicago and Joliet streets. About 100 guests from Springfield Chicago Aurora Elgin and other towns attended. Speeches by J W Murphy and Fred C Huse and a Ted Men’s quartet performance followed by high order sparring entertainment.

Mr and Mrs W F Muhlig of Edwood Will County celebrate fifty years of marriage on June 14. They settled in the county nearly 50 years ago after crossing from Nova Scotia and a wartime journey from Fort Sumter era Charleston to Portland Boston and Chicago. Their son F L Mahlig became Will County superintendent of schools.
Mr and Mrs W F Mahmig celebrate fifty years of marriage with a golden anniversary at their Elmwood home on June 14. The couple will host family and friends to mark the milestone in a traditional observance reflecting five decades of married life.

George J. Cowing Jr., son of Probate Judge Cowing, survives a severe incident. Juries are not serious.
A boy named George J. Cowing Jr. escaped serious injury when a car ran over his velocipede on Union Street near Third Avenue. He suffered scalp hair loss and facial bruises but recovered quickly. Edward Rogers was struck by a motorcycle driven by Charles la Dieux at Jefferson and Ottawa, and actor John Killeen narrowly avoided a car at Cass and Collins as the driver stopped in time.
F. M. Blick foreman of Brownell Improvement Co arrives in Toliet to begin building a retaining wall on Clinton Street with forty men and one mixer tomorrow. Blick once lived in Joliet and has many friends in the city.
Goodman Goodmanson, a sailor boy, was sent to Wisconsin County jail from police court this morning. His bunkmate M. Anderson was arrested last night in Seventh Ward after allegedly stealing from several women.
