Gardner to fight libel suit in Chicago action

George Gardner, local news agent named in a $10,000 libel suit by the Chicago Record-Herald Co., says he will push the case and can prove every statement in his circular letter. He says he was assaulted by men hired to cause trouble and will show who hired them. Gardner traveled to Aurora and plans to press the matter in Chicago, denying subscription-list issues are related.

Veterans Gather in Aurora Today Chief speakers named at encampment

Will Preach Sunday Candidate For Pastorate

Rev. F. W. Bateson of Belvidere has been invited by the Eastern Ave Baptist church pulpit committee to preach both services Sunday June 7 as candidate for the Belvidere pastorate. He has led the First Baptist church at Belvidere five years and would succeed Rev. George McGinnis now in Waukegan Illinois. Miss Ella Deuchler of Aurora eloped to the city with Harry F. Marvin and wed Wednesday at 2 pm by Justice Hawk. Her father had earlier thought it a joke. Mrs Marvin is the daughter of Aurora’s Prudential official. the groom works for Stephens, Adamson & Co.
