Harmony meeting divides Will County Democrats in county row

Haley faction defeats Bryanites at a Will county harmony gathering. Leaders aim to shape Tuesday’s county convention with a Jackson Jefferson democracy platform while disputes over Kansas City and Chicago lines trigger a bitter party split and clashes.

Miss Kennedy’s Body Recovered After Flood Drowning

The fourth day after the Desplaines flood a body identified as Miss Mabel Kennedy daughter of Mr and Mrs James F Kennedy was found by William Rodgers near the Desplaines river bank south of Patterson station. The body was snagged on clothing to a post and towed ashore with help from Michael Scott. The scene drew police and local workers to the riverfront.

Howard M. Snapp of Joliet born September 27, 1855, son of Henry Snapp a New York native. A lawyer active in canal property litigation and water power cases, he built a lengthy political career as organizer and central committee chairman through the 1890s. He married Alice Halsey and has three children Dorrance, Helen, and Howard Jr. He never sought nomination before this time.

Mrs Charles Myers Celebrates Birthday With Perry Hive

Mrs Charles Myers entertained the Ladies of the Maccabees Perry Hive at 108 Stevens Ave Thursday for her birthday. Progressive euchre ran from 2 to 6 pm with three prizes awarded. Guests presented a silver keepsake, then refreshments were served by the hostess assisted by Mrs Andrews. Nearby neighbors joined in later in the day.
