The town ship high school outlines commencement week starting next Monday with a fourth annual field day at Ingalls park. The day features athletic events from one mile to four mile relays and a long list of entrants and officials. The program marks the outgoing class of 1903 and includes class day on Wednesday and graduation on Thursday.
An archaic verse extols the Creator through celestial and natural imagery. The speaker invites angels, winds, waters, and all living beings to join in perpetual praise, with dawn and day as prime moments, while seeking dispensation of evil.

A dispatch from Vienna dated June 6 reports that a planned massacre of Jews was narrowly prevented at Bialystok and Grodno in Russian Poland on Sunday. Prominent local citizens were identified as the prime movers in the attempted attack.
Kansas City report says the Kaw River continues to fall rapidly after a two foot drop in the last twenty four hours. The article notes a plan to proceed to Rock Run tomorrow.
Truman A. Mason presided over the board of education as sixty graduates received diplomas. The class includes thirty two girls and twenty eight boys with names such as Mary Eva Reynolds Elizabeth Stone Maude Zarley Ivy Pearl Brooker Hazel Carey George Welch and many others listed among the sixty graduates.
Governor Yates removed James P. Whedon from the Joliet prison board as Israel Dugeon of Grundy county was named to succeed him. Whedon and allies promise legal action unless charges are filed, claiming the governor cannot remove a state official without fault. Whedon had been asked to resign six months ago, which he refused.
Mrs John Lambert and Mrs Harry LeRoy Thompson escort Lady Whist players to Streator in a private car for a return game with 12 to 15 Union club teams. They depart at 6 10 via the Alton, return after midnight on a special train. Lunch is in Streator. local teams dine before departure to avoid delays.
W L Connell a coal operators representative in Scranton says no further strikes will occur if the Pottsville convention confirms the district presidents’ choice of representatives by the conciliation board. Operators would accept the credential, the main point of dispute.

Bert Freeland brother of Jack Freeland once imprisoned for Gardner bank robbery was seriously injured in a stabbing at Chicago Heights last Monday. He and companions had been drinking, quarreled, and Freeland was stabbed. He refused to identify his attacker or provide details. Freeland, a former handy horseshoer, had a rough history and spent time in Racine and Wisconsin penitentiaries.
D. W. Warner pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly conduct and was fined 8.50 for the second similar arrest in a week. Robert Bush also paid 5.25 for disorderly conduct after a wife complaint.
At the regular meeting of Cigar Makers Union No. 174 officers were elected: President William Godsall, Vice President H F Schmidt, Financial and Corresponding Secretary A Martin, Recording Secretary N Green, Treasurer T B Honkamp, Sergeant at Arms W J Hardy, Label Secretary F A Schreier, and financial committee Peter Herbach M J Contin and Wm Leimbach. An excursion to Michigan City is planned for Sunday June 7.
