Louis Zupee, penniless and believed insane, wandered in pursuit of his wife and her lover Adolph Travonic after an elopement with their three children. He was taken to the station in a distraught state, prompting police and press involvement as investigators consider possible motives and a tragic outcome.
G W McCullough of Cleveland arrives in Jolet next week to take over as physical director at the Steel Works club. He succeeds B E Delampe who resigned. McCullough comes highly recommended and is expected to fit the position. DelCampo is setting up a room in the port sand.

Edward Payson Weston, the 71 year old long distance walker, reached Denver in good condition five days behind schedule. He plans to make up the time, smiling through the mud and rough Colorado roads, saying his ocean to ocean journey will end in San Francisco in as good shape as he is now. Crowds greet him daily as he continues toward the desert stretch awaiting him.
Six youths faced Judge S A Goodspeed on charges of incipient banditry after raids on Dellwood park pie shops and a Manhattan Sunday school excursion. Basil Murray 16 admitted slight evidence, others discharged. two more warrants issued for late summons.
Many Joliet residents plan abroad trips and to summer resorts as vacation season begins. Commencement days prompt trips to see graduates from Denison, Smith, Harvard, Northwestern, Knox, Illinois, and more. Notables include Mike Kahn families heading to White Lake and several graduates bound for universities and military academies.

Frank Abram of 115 Osgood Street reports a vicious dog owned by B. Rogers bit him severely without provocation. He tells police the incident endangers the community and asks for the animal to be removed.

Kenny Jenks through attorney John J. Mahoney seeks a writ of habeas corpus to secure his release from jail. Judge Dorrrance issued the writ returnable June 1909. Jenks and Frank Warren were accused in an ambush shooting at a lumber camp near Wilmington that left Joseph Smitherle wounded. Warren was convicted. Jenks, free on bail, faced delays as witnesses were sought.
Voters are cautioned that attempting to give one of three votes to Judge Hooper by marking the Republican Circle and then also marking his name in the ballot square will not count. To vote for Hooper and two others, place crosses in the squares of the three chosen candidates, and leave the party circle unused unless voting straight party ticket.
The report notes Tommy Balloon, a known police character, indicted for theft of brass from Illinois Steel, now jailed as the arrest proceeds. Mayor Cronin backs using an expanded bond limit to 320 000 for a city hall in Joliet if the Busse bond bill is signed. He argues a city hall is essential as the city grows, favoring bonds repaid in annual installments or a full bond issue, with the council to decide after further talks with the contractor.
