Bloomington residents marked the end of the Spanish American War veterans encampment with a grand sham battle drawing about 15 000 spectators. A Rock Island soldier was injured by a chest musket shot as units from the Sixth Regiment Illinois National Guard the Twentieth United States Infantry detachment from Fort Sheridan and other veteran and military bodies participated. The Rock Island encampment will host next year as officers were elected including Fred Bennitt Joliet as Judge Advocate and David Davis Litchfield as Department Commander with Chicago and Pontiac officials.
The Chicago and Illinois line offers a $2.50 round trip excursion to Proria Lincoln Springfield and Jacksonville on Saturday June 6. Train departs Joliet at 10 am with a Monday June 8 return limit at the office for full information. W. J. Burnett signs the notice.

Clergy friends attended and Dr Sheets presiding elder delivered the remarks as family and friends mourned the loss with music from Mrs J E Morgan and others and a display of many floral pieces.
Elmer W. Placey found guilty of larceny for striking a Chinaman with a hammer and robbing premises of $9 value. Sentenced to twelve months in the county jail with a $1 fine and costs. On assault and battery, he was fined $5 and costs. Case against Henry Roe for perjury pressed but trial postponed as key witness unavailable.
