House Amends the Sherman Act to Strengthen Antitrust Law

Washington June 4 The house passed a bill amending the Sherman antitrust law making contracts or conspiracies in restraint of interstate or foreign commerce illegal. Parties to such undertakings face fines from 500 to 5 000 dollars and six months to two years in prison. Victims may recover threefold damages. The act also broadens the definition of person to include agents and officers and forbids use of the mails.

Delegates and Instructed Support in State Convention

Orendorff leads with claims of 383 first choice supporters from 631 delegates, 119 of them instructed. About 634 delegates were selected, with 157 instructed including Har rison and Alschuler. Cook county is key, with Ortseifen favored by the Cook delegation for 208 votes, while Alschuler backers claim strong country delegate support if Harrison is sidelined.

Two Shot at Polls in Illinois Republican Primary Fight

In Anna Illinois Thomas Mayes a carpenter was shot in the abdomen by A T Thompson one of the judges in the Republican congressional primaries. Bold Highwaymen Hold Up California Stages

In Raymond California on June 4, two masked robbers stopped three Yosemite Stage and Turnpike stages and private conveyance, taking about 150 from a Southern Pacific passenger and around 350 from each stage while two soldiers and troopers who had advanced to scout were captured.
