Donation drive for Joliet Swedish Home on Rowell Avenue

The first annual donation days for the Swedish Orphan Home and Industrial School in Joliet are set for June 21 and 22. Committees across American and Swedish churches solicit varied gifts to fund housing, schooling, and expansion, with events including light refreshments, lanterns, and curbside pickups. The home, opened 1896, serves multiple nationalities and plans to finish the top story to house about 50 more children.

Sacred Concert at St John’s Universalist Church June 4

The second Sacred Concert by the St John’s Universalist Church choir will occur Sunday evening June 4 replacing regular services. The program includes organ pieces, solos by Miss Hill Miss Collins and Mr Grady, anthems by Sullivan and others, and a recessional finale with a mixed choir. Nearly all acts feature local soloists and the church organist Miss May Laing.

Drainage Board and Commissioners Endorse $25 000 Budget Pact

Sunday School Entertains at Universalist Church

The Universalist church Sunday school class of boys taught by Miss Cross presented an evening in the church parlors. Miss Stella Ray performed mandolin solos to the delight of the audience and was recalled multiple times. The show closed with a pantomime Mother Goose rhyme act followed by refreshments before a late thunderstorm.
