Preparations Underway at Joliet Harness Park for July Meet

Local course at Joliet accelerates preparations for the four day harness meet starting July 30. Track improvements include electric car access, new drive from Joliet, and upgraded park facilities. Notable stables and horses such as Saul, McAllen, Lady Pipes, and several others train daily as entries and purses reach record levels, with 8448 in prizes across sixteen classes.

Junior class hosts Joliet recep tion at Dr Eldred home

The Joliet junior class held a grand reception last evening at Dr C C Eldred's home on South Eastern avenue. Miss Eldred and other hostesses decorated the house in purple and blue the class colors. 15 guests attended with Eversoll's three piece orchestra providing music and refreshments served.

Highway Commission Orders Arc Light at Meeker Avenue

Highway Commissioner F. O. Wood orders the E. J. & E. Railway to install an arc light at the tracks intersection with Meeker Avenue for public protection. The busy street serves day and night traffic including ambulances to Silver Cross hospital. At the same meeting the commission approved the weekly payroll of 223.25 dollars.

Aurora Town Team Faces Joliet Standards In Rivalry Test

Weather looks good for a large crowd as the Aurora team faces Joliet Standards in a scheduled ball game. A special E J and E railway train will depart at 10 30 in the morning with return at 7 30 in the evening. round trip fares are five hundred cents.

Spafford Address Honoring Col Bartleson on Memorial Day

Swedish Orphanage Annual Donation Day Program

The sixth annual festival and donation day at the Swedish Orphan Home is set for next Tuesday June 4. The afternoon features a string band, prayers, speeches by Rev. OJ Siljestrom Rev AW Stark and others, visits to the institution and refreshments. Evening program at 3 o'clock includes music, multiple speeches by local officials and prominent figures, and further entertaining offerings. Daug Fiends Arrested in City Drug Wake

Two young men John Anderson and Albert Morten both 21 were arrested after shows of distress from cocaine use. They were confined to county jail for 30 days. Saloon keepers O Hara Flynn fined 12.25 for liquor violations. Other arrests include Ed Hogan for vagrancy and Morris Hadley Leo Hartong for drunken disorderly conduct with fines.

Closing Dancing Season in Joliet by Miss Pritchard

Miss Pritchard held a closing reception for her dancing class in Loughran hall last night. About 150 couples attended and danced from 9 p.m. to after 2 a.m. Holman’s orchestra provided music and received frequent applause. She plans a fall return to continue the popular program.

Surprises Planned for Eastern Avenue Baptist Service

Tomorrow at Eastern Avenue Baptist Church a special service will feature announcements on finances and progress toward paying the church debt of about 39,000 dollars. The morning service will observe the Lord's Supper, and the evening guest preacher Rev. H W Red from Chicago will speak. Unexpected financial disclosures are anticipated for the congregation.
