Trout Club Invites Members for Sunday Fish Fry

City of Joliet received numerous bids for fire house sites in the Fifth and Seventh wards. Prices ranged from $900 to $4,590 with multiple parcels listed by area and owner. proposals will be reviewed by the fire committee, fire marshal, and aldermen.

Mrs N J Horn underwent a serious operation yesterday at St Josephs hospital and is resting as easily as could be expected. The operation was performed by Dr Watkins of Chicago, assisted by Drs Van Hook and Meade Clyne of Wesley hospital.

Cronin Asked to Address National Municipal Meeting

Mayor John R. Cronin has been invited by the secretary of the American Municipal League to address members before the Omaha meeting starting September 30. Coal bids rejected and new proposals sought for water pumping station

On the water committee's recommendation Alderman Nicholson ordered bids for coal for the water pumping station be rejected and to re advertise proposals by January 1, 1909. The failure to specify coal grade and a misprint in the ad caused the action. North Collins street was transferred to Gilbert and Green at the same location.
