Jilted husband ends life after unhappy honeymoon

Frank McHugh a 27 year old Chicago and Alton switch man, killed himself with carbolic acid at his home on Elmer avenue after his wife deserted him. The note to his wife stated he could not stand the world’s blame and would meet again in heaven. The bride, now in serious condition, was informed of the death at her parents’ home. Coroner’s inquest noted irrational behavior and recent marital strain.

Bloomington Men Inspect Lines On Extended Traction Plan

Bloomington business leaders led by Mayor Edward Holland and officials from the Bloomington Pontiac Joliet Traction group toured lines of the Joliet and Southern Traction Co. to study potential bond funding for extending the line from Pontiac to Bloomington. The party dined at the Commercial club, visited Aurora for a banquet, stopped at Plainfield, and inspected the New Lenox line before returning by Alton.

Coroner's jury probes Slaying in South Richards Street feud

Coroner Noel's jury yesterday heard neighbors and Italian community members testify about Vincenzo Scavo's death from gunshot wounds in a family feud. Antonio Romano remains sought as Mrs. Rosa Scavo is held in custody. the panel recommended arrest and conviction efforts.

County Board probes large unlisted loans in county
