Our holiday trade has been most satisfactory and we thank our friends for their patronage. We are over the rush and ready to resume the regular daily business. Bring in your repair work and we will give it the same careful attention as in the past.
Plans call for a sixteen acre Joliet site to mirror the Pittsburg plant. The Fox plant would produce about twenty finished steel cars daily and employ roughly 1,800 workers if approved. Local officials indicate abeyance only temporarily. funding decisions to come at upcoming directors meeting.
Dr. and Mrs. Searles of New Lenox suffered injuries when a horse spooked by a tow toppled their buggy on a roadside ridge. Dr. Searles sustained head bruises while Mrs. Searles fractured a leg bone. both are not reported in danger. The couple thanks friends and neighbors for aid, with special mention to local meat dealers.

The measure passed after debate with Whalen and Hawk voting no, and Mayor Mount praising Joliet after a Charleston trip for municipal insights.
Levy warrants were authorized. A Joliet Manufacturing Co petition to vacate Youngs avenue south end was referred to the First ward aldermen. A wagon shed at 310 North Eastern avenue may be allowed after fire committee review. DeLong and Biederman seek license transfer to Joliet Bill Posting Co. A Western avenue sidewalk grade was approved. A three member committee may report on a public market site. The clerk will return Richard Roland’s bid check for the crematory house.
Judge Dunn upholds the canal’s open status and the contract with the sanitary district. He warns the district could face damages if the pumping works are shut during navigation and urges preserving the status quo until the legislature acts. The district plans an appeal challenging the ruling on maintenance of the Bridgeport pumping works.
The drainage board’s president, Alexander J. Jones, orders 300000 cubic feet per minute of water to run over Beary Trap Dam through winter until spring navigation opens. Flow previously 200000 cfm, with Chicago vesselmen to blame for seasonal odor and navigation issues.
