A large social charity ball at the Masonic Temple drew Chicagoans and other dignitaries. Captain James G. Elwood led the grand procession with Fitzgerald's Orchestra providing music as guests in gowns and outfits gathered for the event.

Harry Buttles a longtime composing room employee at The Republican and a popular hopeful youth, died at Silver Cross hospital after typhoid fever. He was 18, survived by his parents D. Buttles and a brother, with funeral set for 2:30 PM tomorrow at 106 Market Street. Burial in Oakwood. Rev. B. F. Martin will officiate.
