Two Killed in Train Run Down North of Prison
Two men died in railroad accidents on the Alton and Rock Island lines near the prison and Rockdale mills. Thomas Parker of Jacksonville, 22, a Hall signalman, was struck by an Alton passenger train while moving a signal north of the prison. Konstantine Mbazanos, a Greek worker at Rockdale mills, aged 33 and with family in the old country, was killed by a Rock Island passenger train near the mill. Parker’s body was sent to Jacksonville. Mbazanos’s remains were taken to Chamberlin's and then Chicago for Greek interment.
