Capmol met with President Taft for over an hour in a private conference. He states only personal matters were discussed and no policy or public affairs were raised.
Ex-Representative Samuel J. Drew met with President Taft in Washington in a personal conference and may be considered for a high role if a new Bureau of Mines is created. The president is expected to urge mining supervision legislation separate from commerce and labor. Blizzard conditions hit Joliet with sharp temp swings and light snowfall, prompting warnings of winter hardship.
Anton Shager secretary of the Joliet Merchants' Association travels to Peoria for a committee session arranging the Illinois State Retail Merchants' convention to be held in Cairo February 8 9 and 10. He will meet Nels Olson of Galesburg president of the Secretaries' Assembly and George E. Green state secretary of the Merchants' Association.
